Sunday 25th March 2018 – 10.30am to 4.30pm

I am very excited to have found a beautiful, new venue for our second Yoga Day Retreat.

I wanted to hold this retreat around the time of the Spring Equinox (20th March) as these times of seasonal transition help to keep us close to the rhythms of nature and help us to remember we are part of a much bigger picture.

The Spring Equinox is also known as the “Festival of Balance and Potential” as it represents a point of balance when day and night are equal in length. Light and dark are therefore in perfect balance at this time, bringing balance, union and harmony into our lives. It also signifies the return of the light, the warm air and the Earth awakening after a long winter, all encouraging us to listen to what is yearning to come forth and blossom within us. This all makes it the perfect time to celebrate this Spring Awakening with a full day of yoga!

The precise structure of the day will evolve over the coming weeks but I anticipate that it will run along similar lines to my last yoga day. However, to give a general idea of what the day will involve, I anticipate having a longer more “yang” yoga class in the morning to get our energy up and warm our bodies, which will also include time for pranayama and savasana relaxation of course.

We will then take a short break for lunch together. I would ask that you bring your own lunch with you given that there are so many “diet” options these days (in my family alone we are vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian and meat-eater!!). However, I will be providing teas, coffee, juices, water as well as biscuits, nibbles and healthy snacks, etc. for everyone to enjoy. We have access to a kitchen so there will be a fridge there if anyone needs to keep their lunch in the fridge!

There is also a beautiful “meadow” adjacent to the hall so weather permitting, there might be an opportunity to get some fresh air together. Alternatively we can all just bring our wellies for a stomp about! 🙂

The afternoon session will include a more restorative “yin” yoga class, time for relaxation through meditation, yoga nidra and a “Sound Bath” during which I will use my New Moon Gong and my singing bowls to help relax you all deeply and to promote a deep sense of wellbeing.

The idea behind the day is to allow for plenty of “you” time and peace and quiet away from your otherwise busy lives. The setting is very tranquil in a beautiful little village so there really will be the sense of getting away from it all. We also have exclusive use of the venue so it will provide a lovely setting for some rest and rejuvenation.
