**TRAVEL UPDATE – PLEASE READ** [23/03/18]
I have just received an email from one of my yoga ladies reading as follows:
“Just thought I’d warn you that Cobham high street is closed until Tuesday and there are “road ahead closed” signs at either end! If you’re approaching via the Gravesend East/Jeskyns A2 turn off you’ll be able to get to the Meadow Rooms ok although you will have to go past the road closed sign. If you come via the Shorne/Cobham A2 exit, you’ll be sent around a very long diversion!! Thought you might like to warn people if you weren’t already aware.”
Please do take this into consideration when planning your route there!!
I am very excited to have found a beautiful, new venue for our second Yoga Day Retreat.
I wanted to hold this retreat around the time of the Spring Equinox (20th March) as these times of seasonal transition help to keep us close to the rhythms of nature and help us to remember we are part of a much bigger picture.
The Spring Equinox is also known as the “Festival of Balance and Potential” as it represents a point of balance when day and night are equal in length. Light and dark are therefore in perfect balance at this time, bringing balance, union and harmony into our lives. It also signifies the return of the light, the warm air and the Earth awakening after a long winter, all encouraging us to listen to what is yearning to come forth and blossom within us. This all makes it the perfect time to celebrate this Spring Awakening with a full day of yoga!
The precise structure of the day will evolve over the coming weeks but I anticipate that it will run along similar lines to my last yoga day. However, to give a general idea of what the day will involve, I anticipate having a longer more “yang” yoga class in the morning to get our energy up and warm our bodies, which will also include time for pranayama and savasana relaxation of course.
We will then take a short break for lunch together. I would ask that you bring your own lunch with you given that there are so many “diet” options these days (in my family alone we are vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian and meat-eater!!). However, I will be providing teas, coffee, juices, water as well as biscuits, nibbles and healthy snacks, etc. for everyone to enjoy. We have access to a kitchen so there will be a fridge there if anyone needs to keep their lunch in the fridge!
There is also a beautiful “meadow” adjacent to the hall so weather permitting, there might be an opportunity to get some fresh air together. Alternatively we can all just bring our wellies for a stomp about! 🙂
The afternoon session will include a more restorative “yin” yoga class, time for relaxation through meditation, yoga nidra and a “Sound Bath” during which I will use my New Moon Gong and my singing bowls to help relax you all deeply and to promote a deep sense of wellbeing.
The idea behind the day is to allow for plenty of “you” time and peace and quiet away from your otherwise busy lives. The setting is very tranquil in a beautiful little village so there really will be the sense of getting away from it all. We also have exclusive use of the venue so it will provide a lovely setting for some rest and rejuvenation.
Cost of the day:
Early bird price (until 4 March 2018): £45
Standard price: £50
Please note that I can take an absolute maximum of 30 people. I have tried out the space available with my yoga mats and I can fit up to 30 but definitely no more than this. Please scroll down for how to book.
What to bring:
- A yoga mat – please bring your own yoga mat. I had so much to bring with me last time that I could barely fit everything into my little car. If you need any advice on which yoga mat to get or where to buy one please ask me or read my blog post about buying your first yoga mat.
- A blanket (to keep nice and warm in relaxation and also to use as a prop during our yin yoga practice)
- A cushion (just any cushion from your sofa – again to use for comfort in meditation and/or as a prop)
- If you do already have blocks/straps, etc. then please bring them but it is not necessary to buy any as I will bring mine
- A packed lunch
- Please bring a mug along for tea/drinks as I’m not sure what crockery they have at the venue
- An open mind, a willing heart and a smile ૐ
The Meadow Room,
The Street, Cobham, Kent
If you zoom in on the map below it gives a really clear description of the locality.
It is about 15/20 minutes drive from Dartford and very easy to find – just have a quick look at Google Maps beforehand but I found it no problem at all and I am not a great lover of driving!
Parking: We are very lucky as there is ample parking right next to the hall – enough for over 30 cars.
To book your space on this retreat day please contact me either by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone, text or even WhatsApp on 07932 621415 or in person in class.
How to book:
Please note that your place is only booked with payment. You can pay by cash or by bank transfer (please contact me for details).
